#20SDS: Savory Sweets by Shonise

edit5

Everyone should be able to spend their days doing what they love. Shonise, creator and owner of Savory Sweets by Shonise (SSBS), has been growing her company for the past 3 years to do just that! With her motto being “You dream it, I can bake it!” the ideas she comes up with, taste nothing short of a dream! These cupcakes are NO JOKE, the surprise at the bottom of the CookiesnCream cupcake just blew my mind! But her baking skills do NOT stop there! Cakes, pies, dumplings, and mason jars filled with banana pudding and strawberry shortcake, literally you dream it, she can bake it!

I sat down with Shonise to get more tea (good tea not gossip tea) on SSBS and this is what I found out. She always liked to bake but she decided to share her sweets with others after she noticed her and her boo were the only one’s benefitting from her treats. I tried her strawberry cupcake first, with real strawberries all through out! It was AMAZING! All of her sweets are made from scratch and you can definitely tell! I did not even notice until after our interview, she left a few extras for us to try and that’s when things got real.

Aside from wanting to share her amazing sweets with everyone, she wants SSBS to be a role model for her nieces and nephews, as well as a legacy for her people. I asked her about her logo, which is an african woman surrounded by sweets which illustrates all things SSBS stands for.

Empowering black women as well as her people by being an example. They are grateful for the people who have already donated their time and efforts to help them, so in return they are constantly trying to give back as well.

Savory Sweets by Shonise spent the weekend at different events all over North Carolina selling desserts so you may see them out and about. Even though Savory Sweets is already booming, they do not want to stop there and see themselves food trucking outside of North Carolina! You can reach them at the number on top of their mason jars but make sure to like their Facebook page here for their latest updates.
